Louisville is a city located along the Ohio River that boasts an eclectic mix of both northern and southern city charm. Things to Do Near the Hotel

KFC Yum! Center
The KFC Yum! Center is home to the University of Louisville's basketball programs as well as visiting musical tours, performing acts, and more. It is conveniently located across the street from the hotel and is connected by the Skywalk. During the EHDI Meeting, you can take in a Louisville Men's Basketball game as they take on Virginia on Saturday March 7th. Check their website for the game time and other events.

Belle of Louisville
Located just outside the meeting hotel, the Galt House Hotel, along the banks of the Ohio River sits the historic Belle of Louisville. The Belle is the last Mississippi river steamboat still in operation and is a National Historic Landmark. The Belle has been in operation since 1914 and recently celebrated her 100th birthday in October 2014. Sightseeing as well as lunch and dinner cruises along the Ohio River are available.

Museum Row
Museum Row on Main is comprised of ten museums and attractions just to the west of the meeting hotel, the Galt House Hotel, along Main Street. Kentucky Center for the Arts
Located west of the meeting hotel along Main Street, you will find a number of museums and activities for young and old alike. The Kentucky Center for the Arts is located nearest the hotel. It is the performance center for the Louisville Orchestra, Kentucky Opera, and the Louisville Ballet. Traveling plays, musicals, and performing arts shows as well as comedic and musical acts can also be seen here. Visit their website to find out what is available during your stay.

Muhammad Ali Center
Located two blocks from the hotel on Sixth Street just north of the intersection with Main Street, you will find the Muhammad Ali Center. The Muhammad Ali Center showcases the incredible life and journey of the native Louisvillian. It is also a multicultural center which provides varied programs with the mission to enrich the lives of children and adults so they may become all they were meant to be.

21c Museum
The 21c Museum is a contemporary art museum located alongside a boutique hotel, 21c Hotel, and acclaimed restaurant, Proof on Main. The museum has rotating exhibitions and hosts special events throughout the year. Visit their website to find out what is available during your stay.

Kentucky Science Center and IMAX
Located four blocks west of the Galt House Hotel is the Kentucky Science Center. Exhibits examine the wide world of science and are meant for people of all ages. The IMAX theater is a four-story state of the art digital theater housed within the Science Center. Visit their website to see what films are playing on the big screen!

Frazier History Museum
Just a few steps from the Kentucky Science Center you will find the Frazier History Museum. The museum boasts a collection of over 5,000 artifacts that take you from the Early Middle Ages in England to Vietnam to getting a peak at Louisville's interesting history. There are permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, and even a rotating schedule of 90 live performances that bring history to life. See the original "Big Stick" of President Theodore Roosevelt or the bow attributed to the great Apache leader Geronimo. Experience the live performances about Annie Oakley, Joan of Arc, and Buffalo Bill or learn Victorian self-defense techniques from Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes! Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory
Located just four blocks from the meeting hotel is the world famous Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. You can't miss this attraction as the entrance is marked by a 120 foot, 68,000 pound exact-scale replica of Babe Ruth's Louisville Slugger bat. The museum includes a batting cage where you can take a swing with replica bats from some of baseball's most famous players, spend time at the Signature Wall to see the signatures of the players who have played with these special bats, and view a film about the special art of hitting. Take a factory tour where you can see the famous bats being made before your very eyes. You even get your own miniature Louisville Slugger bat at the end of the tour! Bourbon Experience
Kentucky is known far and wide for its bourbon, the state's only native spirit. Downtown Louisville is home to several establishments that allow visitors to experience Kentucky bourbon through its history, production, and tastings of course!

Evan Williams Bourbon Experience
Evan Williams was Kentucky's first bourbon distiller, dating back to 1780. Located on Whiskey Row two blocks east of the meeting hotel, you can take a historical tour, visit their artisanal distillery, and sample some Evan Williams bourbon. Evan Williams is also a stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

Urban Bourbon Trail
The Urban Bourbon Trail was established in 2008 by six bars and restaurants in the downtown Louisville area including the Brown Hotel Lobby Bar, Maker's Mark Bourbon House and Lounge, The Old Seelbach Bar, Proof on Main, and The Bar at Blu which are all within a short walking distance from the meeting hotel. More restaurants and bars have been added to the Urban Bourbon Trail since its inception. The Urban Bourbon Trail guides you through the city's bourbon history and you can mark your visit to each stop along your trail with a stamp in your Urban Bourbon Trail passport or on the passport app on your phone. Visit six places and you will earn the rank of Bourbon Country Citizen, receive a Trailblazer t-shirt and a certificate. For those who do not fancy the taste of bourbon but still want to experience the history, heritage, and great food along the way, no fear, there is no requirement to imbibe in the drink! If you enjoy the Urban Bourbon Trail experience and have a few days and the spirit of adventure, you can move out of Louisville into the countryside to experience the Kentucky Bourbon Trail .

The Arts

In addition to the Kentucky Center for the Arts, which was described in the Museum Row section of this page, downtown Louisville has much to offer those who enjoy the performing arts.

Actors Theatre of Louisville
Actors Theatre is located just across Main Street from the hotel near the KFC Yum! Center. During the EHDI Meeting, Actors Theatre will be presenting the 39th Humana Festival of New American Plays where you can see up and coming plays before they make their way to bigger stages like New York or Chicago. The Brown Theatre
The Brown Theatre is located six blocks south of the hotel on West Broadway. The Brown Theatre is a lovely and ornately designed theatre which opened its doors in 1925. Performances include comedians, operas, musicals, plays, and more. Visit their website to see what acts are in town during EHDI.

Louisville Palace
The Louisville Palace is located approximately five blocks south of the hotel near the corner of Chestnut Street and Fourth Street. This Spanish baroque-style theatre first opened in 1928. Theatre offerings include comedians, musicians from a wide variety of genres, Broadway attractions as well as the rescreening of classic films. Mercury Ballroom
Located just next to the Louisville Palace on the corner of Chestnut Street and Fourth Street, this venue features various live musical acts. Visit their website for more information.

Waterfront Park
Louisville Waterfront Park is located to the east of the Galt House hotel, the meeting hotel. The park covers an expanse of 85 acres. The park is a great place to take a walk, sit and take in the view of the river, or join in one of the many festivals or activities that take place within its' green space. Fourth Street Live!
Fourth Street Live is a dining, retail, and entertainment destination in the heart of downtown. This complex is located on and around Fourth Street between Liberty Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard. Fourth Street Live is only a short four block walk south from the Galt House Hotel. For entertainment, you will find multiple options from a dueling piano bar, to a cocktail lounge with dark walls and a hammered tin ceiling, to a sports tavern with darts, billiards and more.
