A Systematic Approach to Developing a General Education Tiered System of Behavioral Supports

This workshop is designed to guide district and school administrators in identifying, developing, and implementing general education behavioral tiered systems of support. During this session participants will be provided a behavior supports flowchart that outlines key elements of tiered behavioral supports. This includes teaming requirements, data collection components, and potential supports at each tier. Participants will identify strengths and opportunities for growth within their system and leave with defined action steps. This session is best suited for district and school administrators, PBIS coordinators, and behavior coaches.

  • Participants will be understand a flowchart delineating general education behavioral tiered systems of support. This will include the categorization of components at each tier as well as possible supports and data collection procedures.
  • Utilizing the flowchart, participants will identify strengths and opportunities for growth based on their reflection of current systems in place at their school and/or district. This will includes reflection based on elements of teaming, data collection, and possible supports within their setting.
  • Participants will develop action steps related to tiered behavioral systems of support. Actions steps will center around teaming, data collection, and possible supports.

I have worked in Education for the past 13 years. I taught students in Special and General education Kindergarten through 12th grade. I currently work in the Behavior Department as a General Education Behavioral Specialist and support all schools in behavior instruction and intervention. I have a B.S. Degree in Psychology, a Special Education teaching certificate, and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Design and Instruction. I am currently receiving a Masters in Educational Leadership. I have one son and three daughters. I love my job and my family!!

Rebecca Becker (), Ogden School District, beckerr@ogdensd.org;
Rebecca J. Becker graduated from Weber State University in 2002 with a Major in Communication Studies Teaching and a Minor in Special Education with a K-12 Teaching Endorsement. She graduated from Utah State University with a Masters in Education in 2006. Rebecca has taught Mild/Moderate English, Mathematics, Financial Literacy, Reading, and Study Skills in a traditional junior high and high school setting as well as a self-contained behavior high school for Weber School District and Weber Valley Detention Center. From 2006-2012 Rebecca was the Secondary Resource Math curriculum coach for Weber School District. Rebecca designed and coached teachers on the secondary resource math curriculum for the district and was a member of Weber District Math task-force moving to common core and integrated approach to mathematics. Currently, Rebecca is a Behavior Specialist for Ogden School District.
