19th ANNUAL EARLY HEARING DETECTION & INTERVENTION MEETING
March 8-10, 2020 • Kansas City, MO
Online Resource for Parents: EHDI136.com
The South Dakota EHDI Collaborative has created a website (ehdi136.com) to engage parents in the EHDI process. Specifically, the website walks parents through the recommended 1-3-6 guidelines and assists with tracking their child’s developmental milestones based on his or her date of birth. The website allows for the input of basic information, limited to birth date and results of the child’s initial hearing screening, to guide parents through the 1-3-6 benchmarks. Parents receive reminders at each stage in this process if they have not entered results to move them through the application to the next stage. Important and relevant contacts for various entities in the state of South Dakota are provided to parents through the website. If the family member interacting with the online resource is outside of South Dakota, they receive national-level recourses rather than state-specific resources. The South Dakota EHDI Collaborative designed this online resource so that other states can adopt the application and provide state-specific resources.
