Benefits and Downsides of Genetic Testing for Families

Why is my baby deaf/hard of hearing? That is a question that parents sometimes ask and seek answers for. In this session, Karen Putz will share her family's journey with genetic testing, gene therapy, and genetics--and the mixed outcomes that resulted. Participants will learn how to support families who may or may not want to seek out genetic information.

  • Participants will gain insight to the emotions that can occur with genetic testing
  • Participants will understand how to support families with genetic testing
  • Participants will learn what families face with genetic testing and trials
