Implementing an Evidence-based Model of Parent-to-Parent Support

Since 2016, Hands & Voices has been utilizing the Conceptual Framework of Parent to Parent Support for Parents of Children Who Are Deaf of Hard of Hearing: A Modified Delphi Study by researchers Henderson, Johnson, and Moodie https://handsandvoices.org/fl3/topics/fam-fam-support/give-support.html to implement their Guide By Your Side family-to-family support programming. This presentation will share more recent work of Hands & Voices/FL3 Center that includes the establishment of family learning outcomes and family-to-family support activities that family-based organizations can use when designing their family-to-family support programming. Also included in this presentation will be findings from the 2022 Impact of Family Support and Engagement (IFSE) Learning Community led collaboratively by Hands & Voices/FL3 Center and NCHAM/NTRC. This learning community of 6 state EHDI programs and their parent partners created an evaluation template that can be used to measure the impact of family-to-family support.
