National CMV Foundation Grassroots Engagement

The National CMV Foundation is a non-profit organization working to educate women of childbearing age about congenital CMV. We are dedicated to promoting awareness, providing access to resources and sharing prevention information to eliminate congenital CMV. The National CMV Foundation is committed to empowering women, parents, families and local community networks through grassroots engagement to facilitate conversation and champion the cause. Our ongoing efforts within the Education and Programming Committee are focused on the following areas: • Legislative Support • Department of Health Partnerships & Mini Grants • Patient Education and Outreach • Ambassador Program • Strategic Advocacy Join us to learn more about our current activities and potential opportunities to get involved.

Sara Doutre's daughter, Daisy, is deaf due to congenital CMV. Sara is a former special education teacher and worked for the United States Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. She is a special education policy consultant and advises states on special education, disability and early intervention policy. Sara worked on Utah's CMV legislation and is a co-founder and board member for the National CMV Foundation.

Farah Armstrong (), farah.armstrong@gmail.com;
Farah Armstrong has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. She has 10 years of working experience as a mechanical engineer for BP in Houston and FMC Technologies in Singapore. Farah is a co-founder of National CMV Foundation and is currently serving as the Chair of the Education and Programming Committee. She lives in Houston, Texas with her husband, Patrick, and children, Sophie and William. Farah's passion for CMV Awareness is in loving memory of her daughter, Madeline Leigh, who passed away in 2014 due to congenital CMV.

Kristen Hutchinson Spytek (), kristen.spytek@nationalcmv.org;
Kristen Hutchinson Spytek serves as the President and Co-founder of National CMV Foundation. She was most recently the Vice President of Account Management for Rosetta, now SapientRazorfish, a multi-service offering, customer-centric, consulting agency. A graduate of the University of Michigan, with an M.A. in Global Marketing Communications & Advertising from Emerson College, Kristen has 13 years in marketing and digital media experience working with several leading global and national brands. She co-founded the National CMV Foundation with her husband John, inspired by their daughter Evelyn Grace, born with congenital CMV. Kristen lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband and two sons.
