Increasing the Capacity of Building Leaders to Implement MTSS
Implementing a MTSS framework from a district perspective has a different set of challenges than at a building level. One of these challenges is helping to build the capacity of instructional leaders at a building level (principals, instructional coaches, etc.). This session will share what system supports Canyons School District has created and implemented to support these building instructional leaders and build their capacity to implement MTSS. These supports include coaching support, changes in the structure and content of leadership meetings, and creating more meaningful opportunities to make data-based problem solving. There will be opportunities for participants to reflect on current practices in their setting and problem solve how they can apply principles to their own context.
- Demonstrate how Canyons School District is utilizing support systems at a district level to increase the capacity building-level administrators and coaches to implement MTSS.
- Have participants reflect on current practices in their settings to build the capacity of instructional leaders.
- Facilitate problem-solving conversations on how to increase support for instructional leaders to better enable implementation of MTSS.
