Sound Futures

Are you looking to give families of newly identified children who are deaf or hard of hearing access into the life of teenagers and young adults who are also deaf or hard of hearing? Come and learn how WI engaged a high school student, a college intern and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing to produce a free on-line resource that you can use too! It is likely that parents may also share these vignettes with a child who is deaf or hard of hearing to empower them to believe in a bright future. A future phase of the project may include linking featured teens with young kids who are Deaf or hard of hearing through a teen mentorship component.

  • Learn how to capitalize on community engagement with young adult deaf and hard of hearing individuals as partners.
  • Learn how stories of 14 - 21 year olds can meet a unique need in the EHDI community.
  • Learn how to promote role models and mentorship through the use of video technology.
