Synthetic opioid-related deaths have increased 850% in women. General addiction in women especially related to methamphetamine, prescription stimulants, heroin and other opioids requires gender-responsive treatment and education.

Dr. Annie Lindsay has served in the public health field for more than 30 years and owned a wellness consulting business for almost a decade. Currently an Associate Professor of Public Health and Exercise Science with the University of Nevada Reno, Extension in Las Vegas, she received her undergraduate degree at the University California, Santa Barbara, a Master of Science in exercise physiology, and a PhD in public health from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Since 1997 Dr. Lindsay has studied women in correctional settings with a focus on substance abuse, nutrition, physical activity, eating pathology and body dissatisfaction.
