Beginning to Pave the Way in Illinois to Address Infant Hearing Health Disparities
The use of social determinants of hearing health data for infants completing screening, diagnosis and Early Intervention in Illinois has assisted the program to identify opportunities for systems change in addressing statewide disparities. Through analysis and visualizations, the program gained new perspectives about the influence of race, geographic location and confounding factors, such as baby birthweight, on the attainment of national benchmarks. Perspectives discovered drive the development of strategies for supporting equitable services. The poster will share Illinois’ identification and analysis of maternal factors that drive the development of intervention targets for addressing hearing health disparities. The initial work represented in this poster paves the way to creating a bridge to equitable care.
- identify maternal factors associated with 1-3-6 goals
- investigate contributing factors that are associated with health disparities
- determine intervention targets for systems change to address vulnerable populations
