Camps and Accommodations for my DHH child
Have you made a request for accommodation at the community center for a swim class but the person at the desk told you that they do not provide accommodation? This session is for families who child is aging out of early intervention or families with school aged child, who want their DHH child to participate in various camps, community center programs, sports, public places like the zoo, and/or programs not affiliated with school. Learn about resources to request for accommodation and the next steps. Learn about resources such as your regional ADA resource centers, and where to file complaints. Let's make it better for our DHH community and future DHH kiddos. Also learn about various DHH camps across the country. Let's share resources with each other!
- The paricipant will understand what regional ADA center can provide you
- The participant will identify city/town, county, state, and national place to report discrimination
- The participant will leave sessions with tools to help the entity provide accommodations for your DHH child

Laura Gramer and her family reside in Seattle, WA. They are deaf parents to two deaf sons. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Laura currently vice chair on WA Hands & Voices board and board president for Hearing Speech Deaf Center. She served on various commissions and boards in Washington and Illinois. Laura and her family are involved in the deaf community.
