Collaborating with Stakeholders to Support Follow-up

Many EHDI programs across the country struggle with delayed or limited follow-up for diagnostic audiology and enrollment in early intervention. The Nevada EHDI Program will share several key relationships and jointly funded activities which have resulted in a high percentage of D/HH children enrolled in Part C early intervention programs. By working collaboratively with pediatric audiologists, the Part C Office, local early intervention agencies, and Nevada Hands & Voices Guide by Your Side program, as well as funding specific training and educational opportunities for these entities, follow-up has improved and enrollment in early intervention has surpassed the national average. This presentation will detail specific activities and their impact on audiology follow-up and early intervention enrollment as well as highlight the data collection and sharing procedures of the key players. We anticipate that the strategies presented can be duplicated or modified by other states to produce similarly successful outcomes.

  • Participants will be able to identify three activities suited for stakeholder collaboration.
  • Participants will learn how to develop a collaborative working relationship with family-based organizations.
  • Participants will be able to identfiy and adapt strategies to fit work processes within their states.
