Tech in Classrooms: What's Working?
This presentation will provide best practices and lessons learned from Utah schools as well as recent national research regarding education and technology. The best practices to be presented are a result of stakeholder feedback from schools who have adopted literacy and math software programs throughout Utah in the past few years. The best practices fall under two phases: what elements should be in place before implementation and what supports need to be in place during implementation, including teacher practices. The national research presented reviews recent results from studies conducted in classrooms and schools throughout the country. They focus on teacher and school practices that have high effects on student learning in a technology-infused classroom as well as practices that do not contribute to student gains. Specifically, the presentation examines personalized learning with technology, online learning, and the effects of teacher engagement when students are using technology.
