Maximizing Your Efforts in Educating Parents and Providers about the Importance of Hearing Rescreening
Sending the message to parents-to-be, new parents, daycare providers, and health care providers about the importance of follow-up after a failed hearing screening is key to help decrease the instances of loss to follow-up. Here are some steps you can take to maximize your time and effort. First, drive them to your web page that has a road map of what to do next, videos, list of providers, resources for parents, and milestones for the child to help them along the way. Next, use videos for parents and providers stressing the importance of rescreening. Last, utilize Google Analytics to see who you are reaching and how it can help you reach your audience. Examples will be given during the presentation.
- Participants will be able to list 2 goals for reaching families and physicians about the importance of hearing rescreening.
- Participants will be able to identify 2 ways (in their state) to reach parents to be and new parents to educate them on hearing rescreening importance.
- Participants will be able to list 2 benefits knowing how to reach your audience of parents-to-be, new parents, daycare providers, and health care providers.

Hello, I am Danna Crook. My perspectives of hearing loss come in many forms: I was a child with a hearing loss (now adult), my father was deaf, my sibling is DHH, I have a child who is DHH, and I have 20+ years of being a SPED and Regular Ed Teacher. My involvement with Arkansas Hands & Voices as a DHH Guide, Parent Guide, and ASTra Advocate are invaluable in helping other families navigate the journey with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
