Cultural Responsiveness? Why does it matter?

This session will provide practical tools and strategies for today’s educators. As our schools become increasingly multicultural, we must move beyond tolerance of differences and embrace all individuals within every cultural group. Cultural responsiveness approaches to teaching as well as clinical service are the foundation for improving student progress and closing the achievement gap. However, culture is not limited race and ethnicity. It is inclusive of gender, religion, socioeconomic status, as well as sexual orientation. The purpose behind this session is to provide educators with tools to create and maintain culturally supportive environments with everyday practice.
