Audiological Management of Minimal Hearing Loss in the Pediatric Population
Thresholds obtained through an Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) evaluation are a prediction of peripheral hearing sensitivity. In cases where minimal hearing loss thresholds are obtained via ABR in infants less than 6 months of age, should behavioral testing be completed prior to fitting amplification? This presentation will be a case study format, highlighting ABR results with accompanying behavioral test results, follow-up recommendations, and management strategies for this specific population of patients.
- Participant will be able to define minimal hearing loss. Participant will be able to assess and manage pediatric patients with minimal hearing loss. Participants will be able to critically analyze their ABR thresholds and determine if hearing aids are an appropriate recommendation.
