Teleaudiology: Improving Access to Hearing Healthcare
Advancements in audiology diagnostic and therapeutic technologies combined with readily available communication technologies has provided an opportunity to revolutionize hearing health services in low-resource communities across the globe. There are now a number of options to allow nearly every aspect of a patient’s hearing healthcare journey to be performed via teleaudiology. With the assistance of local trained support staff and an internet connection, patients in under-serviced locations can benefit from comprehensive audiologic services from diagnostic testing to hearing aid fittings. This presentation will define modalities of teleaudiology and demonstrate how each method can be applied to bridge the gap to quality hearing health services.
- At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to describe two methods of teleaudiology.
- At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to select a method of teleaudiology that is appropriate for specific needs of underserviced areas.
