Why Men Stay in Abusive Relationships
Why Men Stay is a powerful look at how from infancy to adulthood men are subjected to societal standards of how they are defined. This presentation will be shedding light on how men are 'groomed' through childhood to believe a certain way, how they are viewed in adulthood, and how they have modeled behaviors to conform/converse to this idea of the perfect man. A discussion on how the male and the female brain works with decision making and how trauma impacts those decisions. This hour and a half will also provide tools and worksheets for therapists to employ for those individuals who have experienced Domestic Violence.
- Bring Awareness To Men as Domestic Violence Victims
- Help Counselors by Providing Information and Tools to assist in Treatment

Hello! My name is Melody Anderson, CMHC. As a therapist I’ve had an amazing opportunity to work with Men and Women in Domestic Violence situations as both victims and perpetrators, further I’ve been able to work with offenders in the Department of Corrections both male, female, queer, bisexual, transgender, and Intersex.I have been fortunate to work in a progressive trauma focused approach with individuals with every type of background and concern. I’ve worked with homeless individuals, those who have substance abuse issues, family breakdowns, personality disorders, and more. My hope is to provide a safe space for individuals to explore their issues and concerns in their lives that are inhibiting growth, healing and the ability to move forward towards their goals and beliefs.
I have an irreverent approach to life and am awkward and a bit silly in my attitude and goals.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy with an emphasis on Person-Centered Therapy (finding out what you value and finding ways to incorporate those beliefs into your everyday life.)
The quote I live by is, “Those who can, should.”
