Advancing Educational Equity Through Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices

This interactive session is designed for K12 teachers and will focus on elements of culturally responsive teaching practices (CRTP). In this session participants will have an opportunity to learn a) what CRTP are, b) the research-base that supports why CRTP are critical for advancing educational equity and c) engage in exercises and activities designed to help build, grow, and strengthen their repertoire of CRTP. Participants are encouraged to come with a growth mindset and prepared to actively participate with colleagues.

Saroja Warner is the co-director of the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center at WestEd, where she helps build the capacity of states and school districts to develop and successfully implement education policy and practices to support equitable and positive outcomes for all learners. Prior to joining the WestEd team Saroja was the director of teacher workforce initiatives at the Council of Chief State School Officers and a national board-certified high school social studies teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.
