EHDI/AZEIP/ASDB: Partnering Together to Support the EHDI 1-3-6
Participants will learn about a conference put on by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Newborn Screening that drew nearly 200 Early intervention service coordinators and almost all early intervention teachers of the D/HH in Arizona. The training provided valuable information on the basics of the EHDI 1-3-6, Audiology 101, D/HH Cultural Sensitivity, How to document referral and IFSP dates in the EHDI system, Tips for successful transition to preschool and information on valuable community resources. The session will highlight the content of the training sessions as well as review the stakeholders that were included in the planning and execution of the training. Attendees will learn activities need to be able to hold a similar training in their program.

Fran is the Case Management Coordinator at the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Newborn Screening. She provides administrative oversight to the follow up teams for both hearing and bloodspot. Prior to becoming the Coordinator in November 2014, Fran spent the prior 2 1/2 years as the High Risk Coordinator/Project Specialist. She provided follow up to all newborns who spent >5 days in a NICU and did not pass their newborn hearing screen as well as completing CQI projects related to reducing LTFU. Fran has a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Before joining the Newborn Screening Program over 6 years ago, Fran spent 18 years as a social worker in the early intervention field.
