Only in Translation: Applications of Data into Practice

Clinicians and providers must stay up to date on relevant research in order to provide optimal care to their deaf and hard of hearing patients and families. An important aspect of care involves translating published research and data into meaningful conversations with families in order to support them through crucial decisions they must make. In this session we will discuss how primary care pediatricians can approach the analysis of recent publications in order to translate it from the literature into practice, including shared decision-making with families.

  • Become familiar with recent publications relevant to the care of deaf and hard of hearing infants and children.
  • Understand study design and how it impacts our knowledge of language outcomes
  • Increase provider confidence in translating research publications into clinical practice in the medical home
