Developing and Implementing a Full Continuum of Educational Services for Toddlers with Hearing Loss
The educational and childcare needs of families can vary greatly. This session will look at the benefits of creating a full continuum of care to meet the needs of every type of family. Ranging from mother's day out programs to full-day care, an intervention team can evaluate a child's present levels of performance in listening and spoken language, parental involvement, and other developmental factors to determine the best and most appropriate educational placement for very young children with hearing loss. Participants will review a rubric to assist in making objective recommendations for the level of support a toddler may need, and will discuss ways to implement a wide range of family-centered early childhood educational services.
- Explore different toddler classroom models
- Make informed classroom placement recommendations for toddlers
- Support families with the global development of a child with hearing loss
