CMV Awareness in Action

National CMV will provide the CMV Public Health & Policy Conference audience, especially families in attendance, information, tools and tips for fundraising, specifically peer-to-peer (P2P) or social fundraising. Peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising leverages your supporters to fundraise on behalf of a charitable cause. National CMV’s programs rely on the generous contributions from its CMV community, and with a national awareness rate of 9%, there is much work to be done to improve education and influence research about congenital CMV. More specifically, peer-to-peer fundraising is a type of crowdfunding. You’ve likely given to, or at least known of, a crowdfunding campaign. Some of the most popular crowdfunding platforms are Kickstarter and Indiegogo. At its most basic level crowdfunding consists of a request/campaign put forth by a business/organization, which is supported by many individuals (hence “crowd”). Every peer-to-peer fundraising campaign spreads awareness, provides engagement, develops strong relationships, raises funds and allows each individual dedicated enough to create a unique campaign with personal storytelling. The CMV community are the heroes of this cause and peer-to-peer amplifies their impact. Learn more about how YOU can join the movement.

  • Explain the value/power of peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising for CMV awareness.
  • List reasons P2P is for beneficial to all involved.
  • Describe ways the CMV community can benefit from P2P fundraisers
