Reversing the Effects of Trauma through Mindfulness & SEL

Understand how trauma affects the brain, and learn about ways to calm the stress response and ready brains for learning. Participants will learn about the ACE study and brain development. Understand pre-frontal cortex development and how to reverse damage by creating new neural pathways. Learn strategies for developing neurocognitive abilities that are critical to students’ academic and social-emotional success. Learn how to develop student mindfulness and develop their metacognitive skills. Receive tools to help students take charge of their own learning and develop resilience.

  • Understand the affects of Adverse Childhood Experiences on learning.
  • Examine research around Mindset Theory and Brain Development
  • Learn techniques and strategies on classroom Mindfulness, Resilience, and Social Emotional Learning Initiatives

Eric Price (), Fort Herriman Middle School, eric.price@jordandistrict.org;
Eric Price spent several years as a teacher and administrator in Title 1 schools in the Houston, Texas, area. He spent 4 years as middle school assistant principal in Utah before his current position as the Principal at Fort Herriman Middle School, a National School to Watch, in Jordan School District. Price has an M.Ed from Lamar University in educational administration and a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in history education. Eric is the father of four amazing kids, three of whom have dyslexia and are currently on IEP's. Mr. Price has presented at regional conferences, national webinars, and has been published in EdWeek.
