EARLY HEARING DETECTION AND INTERVENTION VIRTUAL CONFERENCE
MARCH 2-5, 2021
(Virtually the same conference, without elevators, airplane tickets, or hotel room keys)
Parent-led advocacy groups continue to pave the way in driving public health and policy changes regarding CMV awareness, prevention education, and newborn screening protocols. This plenary features parents representing four region-specific CMV organizations. These organizations were founded by parents drawing from consequential, personal experiences in an effort to make a positive difference for future babies. These parents continue to identify system gaps, challenge status quo, forge connections, inform priorities, and inspire others. Each group has established credibility and gained momentum in moving CMV work forward, but not without unique barriers and challenges. Parents will share progress to date within their regions, empowering both parents and professionals to become advocates for CMV awareness and prevention.
