Come AGsperience Hands-On Plant, Animal, Environment, and Technology Lessons!
Come AGsperience Hands-On Plant, Animal, Environment, and Technology Lessons! - AGsploration is a national award-winning agricultural literacy curriculum written by University of Maryland 4-H educators. Its objectives include improving youth agricultural literacy, increasing understanding of the role of agriculture in our lives and generating interest in agriculture and STEM careers. The target audience is middle school but the lessons can easily be modified for upper elementary students and high school students. Participants will receive a brief overview of the 24 lessons and several AGsperience hands-on activities such as an Animal Digestion-Simulation of a Rumen; Feeding Our Future-Extracting DNA; Conservation Choices-Matching Conservation Techniques with Farm Land; and Milk in Motion-Experimenting with Milk.

Becky Ridgeway is a graduate of West Virginia University earning her master's degree in Agricultural and Extension Education. She spent a year as a graduate teaching assistant teaching a global foods and agriculture course at WVU. She currently works for the University of Maryland Extension in Carroll County, Maryland where she works closely within animal and agricultural sciences. She has been a 4-H Educator since 2012 where she has established in-school and field trip programs for elementary schools, while running the largest county based 4-H program in Maryland. A main focus in her traditional 4-H work is bringing more educational animal science programs to youth members throughout Maryland.
