Agricultural Safety is No Accident

Farm visits are an important way to provide youth with an experiential method to improve their agricultural literacy. There is risk involved with visiting farms and agro tourism sites. Many farm and rural injuries and fatalities are not accidents; instead, they are actually incidents that could be prevented with proper training. Educators should be prepared to teach basic rural safety lessons to their students before their visit. This interactive session provides educators with ideas, simple props and links for online resources to teach youth how to be safe when living on or visiting farms and agro tourism sites.
