Can the Green-Lining of the Pandemic Help Cure Plant-Blindness and Promote Horticulture?
Following decades of plant-blindness in the public and workforce gaps in the green industry, we find ourselves at a defining moment. While we can never say there is a “silver-lining” to the pandemic, the fact is, more people are expressing interest in plants, growing their own food and flowers, purchasing houseplants, and hiring firms to help them beautify their homes. A “green-lining” as it were. As green industry professionals, we must capitalize on this trend and help youth and families see the power of plants, eliminate their plant-blindness, and ultimately inspire more people to pursue careers working with plants. In this session, we’ll explore promising practices and provide tips you can use today.
