The TART Cherry on Top

Come explore—and taste—Utah’s state fruit! Utah is the second largest producer of tart cherries in the nation, and fifth in the nation for producing sweet cherries. Tart cherries are ideal for pies and desserts, a popular superfood rich in antioxidants, and the perfect commodity to engage students in the classroom. This workshop will walk participants through an elementary lesson available on the National Agricultural Literacy Matrix. Attendees will diagram the production of tart cherries, illustrate the importance of producers and consumers, and map out different careers involved in tart cherry production.
