Multi-Tiered System of Supports in Mathematics Framework Deep Dive: High Quality Instruction

If you are a mathematics educator, you will not want to miss this session! We will share an overview of Utah's Multi-Tiered System of Supports Framework and share how schools across the state have made great gains implementing the essential components of UMTSS. Participants will deepen their understanding of High Quality Instruction and gain tools they can use to ensure every student gains mastery of mathematics standards.

  • Participants will identify the Essential Components of UMTSS
  • Participants will understand research-based practices in High-quality Instruction in mathematics
  • Participants will deepen their understanding and gain strategies to increase effectiveness of the Three Tiered Model of Instruction

Joleigh Honey serves as the K-12 STEM/Mathematics Coordinator for the Utah State Board of Education. Her prior experiences include being a high school administrator, K-12 Mathematics Supervisor, mathematics specialist, mathematics coach, and mathematics teacher. Joleigh is passionate about connecting the STEM and mathematics community and collaborating with others to create opportunities for students and mathematics education across the nation. She is currently the President-Elect o the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics, where she promotes collegiality and increase the capacity of state specialists via collaborative efforts. Her experience in similar roles include serving on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Nominations and Elections Committee and the STEM Policy Convening Committee.
