Utah Leading through Effective, Actionable, and Dynamic (ULEAD) Education: An Introduction
One of the main goals for the Utah Leading through Effective, Actionable, and Dynamic (ULEAD) Education initiative is to create an online clearinghouse that supports innovative, effective, and/or efficient practices in our public schools. The "clearinghouse resources" represent the first known attempt in Utah to centralize available information access points to assist teachers, leaders, and policy makers in their search for actionable research to improve teaching and learning. Ultimately, we hope to create a tool that practitioners will use to improve their work with young people while building networks and coalitions that can scale-up best practices statewide.
The Early Warning Systems and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to Promote College- and Career-Readiness document, available in the clearinghouse, is one example of how available secondary research can be articulated for broader audiences. This session will introduce attendees to ULEAD Education, the ULEAD clearinghouse resources, and the MTSS centered document mentioned above.
- Creating an awareness of the ULEAD Clearinghouse resources and access points for evidence-based practices.
- Creating an awareness of how to submit innovative and promising practices for consideration, dissemination, and/or further research.
- Supporting effective collaborative efforts through formal and informal networking.

Dr. Withers work with young people and educators includes teaching, counseling, mentoring, and leading across diverse and challenging settings. Starting his professional career as a teacher in an alternative high school and further serving as a counselor, prevention specialist, alternative school coordinator, director of student services, middle school and high school principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent, consultant, and now returning to serve as the Director of ULEAD Education.
