A "Taste" of Geography!
During this presentation, teachers will learn a number of different hands-on activities to help teach students about the different regions of the U.S.; the different types of Agriculture grown in each region; the landforms of the regions and how these landforms are conducive to the commodities of the region. In addition, teachers will be allowed to make their own edible landforms. Teachers will also learn how to bring STEM activities into their teaching of Social Studies.

Kathy DeFoor has been teaching school for 28 years. During her time she has taught fourth,fifth, and sixth graders at Eva School, a rural school in Alabama. Mrs. DeFoor is a National Board Certified Teacher. She was awarded her school systems Elementary Teachers of the year in 2018-2019. Throughout her teaching career, Mrs. DeFoor has devoted her time to teaching with a hands-on approach. She feels her students learn best by using this approach.
