Working with Community Organizations to Maximize Program Impact
This presentation will discuss key strategies for working through existing Cooperative Extension structures to develop, disseminate, and evaluate prevention-based interventions. Examples will be drawn from two evidence-base programs: one designed to prevent Latino immigrant youth substance use, and the other to reduce the effects of parental separation on the minor children of divorcing parent.

Dr. Cox, is an Associate Professor of HDFS and the George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Family Resilience at Oklahoma State University. His research focuses on preventing high-risk behaviors among Latino youth and the use community based participatory methods to develop and examine prevention interventions across multiple contexts. He is currently the PI on a NIH funded study examining the efficacy of the ¡Unidos Se Puede! program to prevent substance use among Latino immigrant youth, two USDA/NIFA funded projects examining pathways to academic performance among minority youth, and a statewide dissemination trial of the Extension-based Co-Parenting for Resilience program.
