Motivational Interviewing Workshop: Collaborating for Change. How to efficiently move clients and patients through the stages of recovery.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a powerful skill set for helping people change. Thirty yeas of research and 1400 studies have confirmed its usefulness in improving clinical outcomes. Dr. Christian will define and demonstrate MI principles then coach participants in practicing with partners. This workshop will introduce MI to beginners and deepen the skills of those who have used MI for years.

David Christian, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who has been training healthcare professionals in the use of MI since 1992. He has a broad background in behavioral research and practice. He earned his Ph.D. in Professional and Scientific Psychology at Utah State University. He served as a professor, clinician and researcher at University of Idaho for six years. He utilizes MI with 30 clients weekly in his Logan, Utah practice. Dr. Christian provides MI trainings at state, national and international conferences for substance abuse professionals, educators, physicians, nurses, social workers, and psychologists.
