Couple LINKS: Before and After COVID-19
The restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have required adjustments to providing relationship education (RE). This mixed-methods study focuses on the Healthy Relationships Utah (HRU) initiative’s transition from in-person to virtual RE programming, measuring program impact and comparing the outcomes between the two delivery methods for individuals participating in Couple LINKS, a curriculum for adults in committed relationships. Results showed that on average, the program had a positive impact. Format comparisons indicated that in-person participants showed greater gains than virtual participants on key program measures. Qualitative analyses of virtual participant responses revealed mixed feelings toward virtual delivery formats, with some participants showing support for virtual formats, some voicing their dislike for virtual formats, and others displaying ambivalence. Implications for the future delivery of RE programs are discussed.
