ELinGO – Electric Infrastructure for Goods Transport in Norway

In 2017, 42% of passenger cars sold in Norway were plug-ins. We predict a 95% increase in HDV transport by 2050 and no clear solution as to curb these emissions. To enable electrification of long haul HDVs, intermittent on the road charging seems to be a promising solution. After two years of research in the project “Electric Infrastructure for Goods Transport” (ELinGO), preliminary findings are summarized in February 2018 to be presented for the first time on the CERV conference. These Three short summaries from each of the work packages 1) technology development for charging, incl. pantograph, rail, and induction, battery size, prototype and construction method, 2) system development, incl. power system model, electricity requirements for charging system, and vehicle battery requirements, 3) Micro- and macro-economic analysis for electrification of road E39, with LCA and an actor analysis with barriers and opportunities. The presentation will end with possible demonstration projects.

Sigve J. Aasebø is working with development of type approval regulations of battery electric vehicles in EU and is organizing and following research on battery development and performance. He is also working on exhaust gas regulations of vehicles with internal combustion engine. Before joining the type approval authorities of Norway (National Public Roads Administration), he had his own strategic and operational business consulting company within environmental road traffic issues for eight years and headed the sustainability team of Ernst & Young, where he worked for three years. Climate issues and road transport have been his top priority since 2005. He studied Energy and Environmental MSc at the Norwegian Business School.
