This session will include key takeaways to increase schoolwide achievement in STEM.
- Identify instructional “look fors” during observations
- Build collective teacher efficacy (background in math/science not required)
- Address equity and crucial conversations. This includes key points that ensure structures for student success!

Biography (250 word limit): Ricky Scott taught middle and high school science for close to 8 years in the Jordan School District. During that time he volunteered to participate in many projects with the State Office of Education (CRT and SAGE item writing/review, UTIPs development, UEN Online Science Endorsement Courses, and help in the development of the new Utah Science Standards). In January 2015 he became the K-12 Science Specialist for the State Office of Education and works to assist science teachers throughout the state. He is a husband and father of 4 wonderful children and enjoys supporting and spending time with them while helping to feed their natural curiosity.

Joleigh Honey

Joleigh Honey serves as the K-12 STEM/Mathematics Coordinator for the Utah State Board of Education. Her prior experiences include being a high school administrator, K-12 Mathematics Supervisor, mathematics specialist, mathematics coach, and mathematics teacher. Joleigh is passionate about connecting the STEM and mathematics community and collaborating with others to create opportunities for students and mathematics education across the nation. She is currently the President-Elect o the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics, where she promotes collegiality and increase the capacity of state specialists via collaborative efforts. Her experience in similar roles include serving on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Nominations and Elections Committee and the STEM Policy Convening Committee.
