How to leverage the IEEE standardization community as well as the DLT community with respect to DWPT

There is no doubt that SAE J2954 has done excellent work in creating an expert community with OEM and Tier 1 involvement to develop standardized and interoperable stationary WPT solutions. But we also need to leverage in addition the IEEE standards community to contribute to in-motion wireless charging technology development. In addition there is interest in the blockchain/DLT developer community to work on interoperable in-motion wireless charging solutions for smart mobility applications in particular in a smart city context. I would like to address in a short panel presentation how IEEE as well as the IOTA expert community could be utilized to develop smart mobility PoC's in closed and open testbeds that are currently being organized via the ITIC Mobility Testbed Alliance. This could complement and further strengthen the ongoing activities in the SAE community on WPT standardization.

Dr. Joachim Taiber is currently serving as CTO of the non-profit organization International Transportation Innovation Center (ITIC) since 2016. He has been recently appointed as Smart Mobility Advisor to the IOTA Foundation and he leads the ITIC Mobility Testbed Alliance which is a global collaborate initiative among closed and open testbeds where AI-based sustainable mobility solutjons are validated in a Smart City context. Previously he worked as research professor and institute director at the Clemson University International Center of Automotive Research and prior to this for many years for BMW Group in different leadership roles in the R&D and IT division. He has specific research expertise in the domain vehicle to infrastructure interaction and is specifically interested in in-motion EV wireless powertransfer. He was educated he Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich from where he holds a master degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD degree in technical sciences.
