All Systems GO!

Year one implementation of MTSS can be a difficult and intensive period of time for any school team. This session will focus on year one of implementation in a Title I elementary school in Davis County, and use their experiences and tools to provide planning items and resources for other schools wishing to begin implementation. This system of supports, based on the MTSS framework and evidence based practices resulted in desired outcomes for students. Implementing a new school wide behavior plan with fidelity, resulted in a positive change to school climate. While there are many lists and books describing MTSS implementation it is valuable to hear from school teams specifically the success and failures they experienced. Session leaders will cover basic timeline of implementation in their school, PBIS in the school, resource development and need, intervention development, behavior plan development, and process of MTSS adoption within the school. Participants will engage in team planning of school wide behavior needs, generate ideas for resources, be able to ask questions to a team done with year one implementation, and obtain knowledge easily shared with team members at their schools about year one implementation logistics.

  • Participants will hear an example of year one implementation of MTSS in a Title 1 Elementary setting. Specifically; PBIS, stages of implementation, implementation drivers, implementation teams using data-driven intervention, and usable interventions within the system.
  • Participants will receive resources and plan for their own needs for successful MTSS implementation.
  • Participants will receive tools and planning time to help them in creating their own school wide system for behavior management using evidence based practices.
