The Power of Small Wins
Schools are places filled with people, people who have their own wants, desires, dreams, and goals. How do we create a work space where educators are engaged and excited about the work? The secret is in managing progress and not people. This presentation is based on the work by Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer. Their book, The Progress Principle, outlines steps leaders can take to increase employee engagement and creativity in order to create a more positive and effective work environment. Imagine working at a school where people are happy, motivated, and feel great about the place they work and the people they work with. Amabile and Kramer's thorough analysis of almost 12,000 diary entries of employees in various organization has identified key actions leaders can take to build a work environment that is filled with happy and motivated employees. In this presentation participants will learn how we can apply this research to the school setting and build a positive, solid foundation for learning. With this foundation in place we can successfully take on many challenges to improve our schools.
- Participants will identify the number one factor in motivating employees.
- Participants will identify Catalysts, Nourishers, Inhibitors and Toxins.
- Participants will reflect on their own practice and identify 2 changes they can make to help employees create forward momentum in meaningful work.
