Water Connects Us All: Agriculture and the Environment
Participants will experience inquiry-based activities showing science practices, crosscutting concepts and disciplinary core ideas associated with the environmental-agricultural issues study of water and soil quality. Through negotiating local environmental issues students can relate to interests and life experiences in their communities and connect to societal problems with water quality. The crosscutting concepts include cause and effect of farming practices, soil and water systems, and stability and change of the environment. An overview of the study as an example of 3-D learning will be given as well as specific lessons and activities for teachers to use in their classrooms.
