Michelle Chapoose (), mchapoose@live.com;
Michelle is a member of the Ute Indian Tribe, Uncompaghre Band, and a Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor. She obtained her Associates of Science at Utah State University and is currently enrolled at the University of Utah. In 2012 she received her Substance Use Disorder Certification and is now working on her Bachelors of Social Work at the University of Utah. She currently does contract work with the Ute Tribe's residential treatment program, Red Pine. Michelle is also certified in Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT) and utilizes this therapy with inpatient clients at Red Pine. She also does domestic violence education contract work with the Ute Indian Tribe Probation Department. Prior to Red Pine, Michelle was an Outreach Prevention Specialist and a Substance Abuse Counselor at the Ute Indian Tribe Alcohol/Substance Abuse Prevention Program. For over twenty years Michelle has been actively participating in community outreach, health education, child abuse prevention, and drug education and prevention. Her collaboration spans multiple entities from the Ute Indian Tribe, Uintah and Duchesne County school districts, to state and federal groups. She is an involved member of her community and shares her knowledge in a variety of settings. Most recently she was the “guest artist” at the Arts Kids/Arts Teens Summer Camp. She utilized art as a means of therapeutic self-discovery and empowerment for kids, teens and adults. She believes that every person deserves dignity, quality of life and the opportunity to contribute to the world around them.
