Domestic Violence and Community Corrections
Probation and Parole receives many clients who are survivors of domestic violence. Often times this traumatic event contributes to and often drives their criminality. Changing criminal behavior requires first addressing this trauma. When the drive changes, positive behavior change will follow. Probation and Parole is most effective when engaged with community treatment partners. Treatment outcomes can be enhanced when treatment providers collaborate with probation and parole officers and programs.
- Inform participants about the role of probation/parole with survivor/clients and offenders.
- Explain the role of Trauma Focused Treatment with probation/parole.
- Discuss frontloading resources and the benefits of collaboration with treatment providers to reduce recidivism and enhance outcomes.

Supervisor with Adult Probation and Parole. I have fourteen years of experience with law enforcement and twelve years with probation and parole. I work in the Logan office. Using The Theory of Constraints as a guide I built a pilot project to frontload treatment and intervention to people on supervision to enhance outcomes. This project was built in collaboration with the Governor's Office of Management and Budget. I have received training on the impacts of trauma and criminality, and have witnessed firsthand how those impacts effect clients.
