Integrated Solution for Dynamic Electric Vehicle Charging
Beside the current status of the bus & EV battery charging projects in Braunschweig/Germany (emil for busses and emilia for EV) the presentation describes a new technical approach using highly integrated components for transferring electric power to an electric vehicle while driving. While existing solutions for dynamic EV charging are based on a number of components (inverters, switches, compensation networks, way side windings), the new presented solution uses integrated components. The goal of this work is to investigate the technical characteristics and the economical aspects of a novel approach for dynamic EV power transfer which is based on the use of multifunctional magnetically and electrical components. The presented results are based on fundamental 3D field calculation and network simulation work and might stimulate ongoing investigations on the field of solutions for dynamic EV power transfer.
