Advocating for CMV Awareness Without Legislation
Everyone would like to have legislation, but what do you do when the timing is not right politically? This session will focus on non-legislative opportunities to make an impact. The session will highlight collaborative efforts in Oklahoma with public health officials at local and state levels. Additionally, participants will learn about opportunities to make local impacts and develop relationships to make a lasting change in their jurisdiction.
- Participants will learn opportunities to engage local and state public health officials.
- Participants will be able to identify three avenues of engagement with local and state elected officials.
- Participants will get lessons learned and best practices while advocating for positive change.

Cara Gluck is a parent advocate and has served as the National CMV Alliance Chair for Oklahoma for the past four years. Cara is married to Steve and the mother to Jordyn, 11, and Parker, 9. Cara has worked in public health for almost 20 years in various roles. Cara has a Master of Public Health degree and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science/Chemistry. Cara has a passion for public health and has been a public health advocate professionally and personally for many years.
