Protective Family Coping Resources: Exploring the Foundations of the Strengthening Families Coping Resources Model
Strengthening Families Coping Resources (SFCR) is a skill building intervention for families impacted by trauma designed to increase the family’s resilience and ability to cope with ongoing stress. SFCR includes therapeutic strategies that incorporate six protective resources that boost a family’s sense of safety, increase ability to function with stability, regulate their stress reactions, and ultimately increase the protective function of the family. SFCR is an empirically supported model for trauma treatment that addresses the way the family contributes to healing and supports joy in daily life. During this presentation, attendees will learn about the model and the ways they can boost a family’s protective coping resources.
- Gain an understanding of the impact of trauma on the family system and ongoing coping.
- Gain an overview of the Strengthening Families Coping Resources model how the model works to decrease impact of chronic trauma on families.
- Increase understanding of the six protective resources used in the model and how they work to increase the family’s protective functioning and decrease symptoms of traumatic stress.
