Efforts to Address Diversity and Inclusion in the Minnesota EHDI System
After the publication of the Advancing Health Equity white paper in 2014, Minnesota Department of Health has worked to integrate the conclusions of that paper into our work at every level. The report explores the gaps in health outcomes across conditions by race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, geography, and socio-economic status, and proposes recommendations for improving the health of all Minnesotans by reducing these gaps. Since then, the Minnesota EHDI program has participated in and even begun to trail blaze strategies to integrate health equity into our work. This presentation will cover the timeline of Minnesota’s efforts over the last five years to ensure inclusivity and reduce disparities, highlight accomplishments and conclusions, and describe the future of our work on this important topic. We will finish by sharing resources for other states to potentially adapt as they address these gaps.
- Understand the scope of work potentially necessary to begin addressing diversity and inclusion
- Learn specific strategies for integrating health equity into the EHDI system
- Leave with three activity recommendations for beginning health equity work
