A Rare Case of an Undetected Broken Intubation Style in Right Main Bronchus: A Case Report
Endobronchial foreign bodies are presentations seen commonly among paediatrics and rarely in adults. We report the case of a 32-year-old female who presented at GOPD with a diagnosis of chronic chest infection keeping in view tuberculosis. This was later found out to be a broken stylet used during her previous intubation six weeks before presentation. This is probably 2nd documentation Worldwide.. Ideal stylets for insertion of endotracheal tubes, which must have an aluminum core with PVC coating must be made available and improvised-metallic objects should be discouraged.
Key words: Stylet, endobronchial foreign body, bronchoscopy, Abuja, Nigeria.
- Unresolved upper air way tract infections could be due to undetected foreign bodies
- Radio imagine is key in making correct diagnosis of foreign body in the airway.
