In-Motion Charging Sequence in Sensorless System using Series-Series Topology via Magnetic Resonance Coupling
Among the types of in-motion charging, there are the lane type and the coil type. From the point of view of efficiency, the losses are smaller in case of coil type because of the high Q factor and the high coupling coefficient. Furthermore, adopting sensorless detection and control is important in order to avoid circuit faults and reduce the overall cost. In case of series-series compensation without control, when the vehicle is not coupled a large current flow in the ground side; on the other hand, it has many advantages such as suitability to high power charging and its resonant frequency does not change with the coupling. Hence, the in-motion charging system using series-series topology via magnetic resonance coupling is introduced, along with the correct sequence of sensorless vehicle detection, power transfer start and stop.
