Lunch and Learn: Baby Beats (presentation starts at 12:45, cash and carry lunches are available)

The BabyBeats™ early intervention resource app is filled with motivating and fun musical activities for parents of babies and toddlers with hearing loss to bond, play, and learn together. The app helps to create lots of opportunities for singing, talking and listening in the home. It will guide parents through activities that will build the foundation for all later learning, listening and communication. During this Lunch and Learn session you will become familiar with the components of the BabyBeats app, how to use this app at home and during early intervention sessions. We will also introduce you to Pintrest and some additional activities to use with BabyBeats.

  • List different activities that can be used with the app.

Jane Ledingham works as a Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist at Advanced Bionics, Northeast Region. Jane received her undergraduate degree from Douglass College and two Master’s Degrees- from Montclair State University and Smith College. She has extensive experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Listening & Spoken Language Specialist – Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist, as well as a Speech/Language Pathologist. Before joining Advanced Bionics, she worked for many years in education, teaching students with hearing loss, training professionals, and providing Auditory Verbal Therapy for children and adults. She has presented at numerous professional venues including the AG Bell Convention on topics related to hearing loss.

Sarah Hargest is a Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist at Advanced Bionics. Sarah has worked with the support and outreach network Advanced Bionics (AB) since 2012. As a Principal Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist in the North East Region, Sarah supports cochlear implant candidates and AB recipients at every stage of the hearing journey. Sarah completed her undergraduate degree at the Pennsylvania State University and her graduate degree at Arizona State University with an emphasis in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology. Prior to joining Advanced Bionics, Sarah worked with children with hearing loss as a speech-language pathologist. She has a passion for educating families and adults about what is possible with today’s advanced cochlear implant technology and helping individuals maximize their hearing potential using AB technology and rehabilitation resources.
